Wasp Nests = Big Problems

The wasp nests themselves are often found on walls, ceilings, overhands of roofs, in trees, and elsewhere around buildings.  They primarily want to create a home that is protected from the elements, and also near to food sources.  As a result, they tend to make their homes more and more often near people and populated areas.  And most people naturally get a twinge of fear and caution when they see a wasp nest anywhere nearby.  The wasp’s ability to sting and defends itself and the nest are the primary concern.  But just seeing a nest nearby can put people ill at ease, and it’s not at all desirable near a home or office.

Wasp nests themselves can also cause some structural damage, depending on the size of the nest and where the wasps choose to settle.  Nests built behind siding or in roof spaces can often become so incorporated into the structure of wood and other materials that handyman repairs may be required after removal to fix up the building.  Plus, they’re a major nuisance in all respects – no one wants to get stung!

Fortunately, it is possible to handle wasp nest removal and get rid of wasp infestations.  It’s just not something you should do on your own.  Expert exterminators from Toronto Wasp Nest Removal are fully trained and qualified for wasp nest removal in Toronto.  Our team members can identify the species of wasp, choose the ideal method of extermination, and safely remove the wasps and nest, using professional equipment and materials.  Our services are affordable, and keep you safe from unwanted stings, which can be potentially fatal if you are allergic.  Leave wasp removal to the experts!

Answers to Your Questions

What’s the difference between wasps, hornets, and bees?

Many people are unclear about the differences between wasps, hornets, and bees, and tend to confuse them at first site.  They generally have similar body colors, and are all generally medium to large sized flying insects.  However, there are some characteristics that can help you indentify which kind of flying insect you might be dealing with.  Bees are almost always furry to some extent, and are not the best fliers.  The bumble bee wasn’t named by accident – they tend to seem kind of bumbling and bumping into things when they fly.  Hornets are far more skilled in the air.  They’re usually the largest of the three types of stinging insects we’re talking about here.  Wasps are typically black and yellow, whereas hornets tend to have browns and reds on their upper body and head regions.

How many wasps should be a sign that I should start worrying about a nearby nest?

There really is no minimum number of wasps that signifies an infestation or that a nest may be nearby.  Spotting a nest, even with only one visible wasp going in and out or nearby, is cause for concern.  Spotting several wasps around a nest, or around your home or office, is usually an indication that there is a nest nearby.  As mentioned previously, these nests can grow and produce hundreds to thousands of new wasps, so it’s best to take care of them as soon as you find them, and call a professional exterminator for wasp nest removal.

What are the signs that I have a wasp problem?

Generally, if you see large numbers of wasps in and around your property – whether outside or from inside your home or office, that means there’s a nest nearby.  Likewise, if they seem to be present any time you go outside, see them in your garden or around trash cans or other food sources, then it’s almost certain there’s an infestation in the area.

Can I remove a wasp infestation myself?

It is never recommended to attempt this by yourself. The significant dangers waps can pose, can be very dangerous for your health in addition to the difficulty of the removal itself.
Using products from homedepot, rona or other speciality stores that are meant for home use will not exterminate the wasp problem, they will only aggravate the situation by making them extra sensitive to human activity.

It can also be very damaging to try to set fire to nests by yourself or use a ladder to try to remove the nest. We have seen many horror stories, it is not worth the hassle and risks.

How long after a treatment is it safe to approach a nest?

Strong insecticides are very capable of killing a wasp on the spot, let alone an entire nest. Our trained technicians will recommend that you leave a hive that has been treated untouched to let the wasps inside it to die from the strong poison and also the waps in the exterior to die.

This process can take up to 48 hours in some cases, but typically the wasp hive will die off almost entirely during the night after our treatment. In all cases, it is best to leave a wasp nest for a longer time to ensure the extermination is successful and in order for the wasps not to come back
